This under-eaves bonus room in a rental apartment was redesigned to transform a previously fragmented space into a calm, restorative environment for work, relaxation, and daily rituals.

The room had previously functioned as a mix of storage, workspace, and dressing area, without a clear purpose or atmosphere. The goal was to redefine it as a quiet retreat with a strong sense of calm and simplicity.

Because of the sharply pitched ceiling, tall furniture was not suitable. The design therefore focuses on low-profile forms, soft silhouettes, and a grounded layout that enhances openness despite the limited vertical space.

Earthy tones and natural textures form the base of the palette, inspired by the clients’ travels and their desire for a more peaceful, nature-connected atmosphere. A deep forest green accent wall was introduced to add depth, warmth, and visual focus within the room.

The result is a softly, layered, and calming bonus room design that feels calm, intimate, and restorative: a small space designed to support slowing down, recharging, and everyday wellbeing.
