This apartment was redesigned with a contemporary interpretation of 1970s modernism, bringing together the living room, dining area and a compact 4 sqm kitchen within one cohesive design direction.

With limited storage and a challenging kitchen footprint, the design focused first on functionality. The kitchen was completely redesigned, while a custom built-in cabinet system was developed for the living area, integrating generous storage, a hidden TV lift, a dedicated workspace and display space for the client's artwork.

Warm walnut, muted greens, glossy surfaces and touches of amber introduce depth and personality throughout the apartment. The design also extended to the selection of new flooring and wall colours, creating a consistent material and colour palette across the spaces.

Rather than recreating literally a 1970s style apartment, the design draws on its atmosphere and material language to create a layered, expressive and contemporary home.
